| Here is the unveiling you’ve been waiting for, many know me from the IRC chat and from the various comments posted around here on shadowness. At any rate, I’d like to introduce myself as the new coder for this very site. It is a great privilege to work with Meng, and even more of a privledge to work with such a wonderful and great community as yourselves. Shadowness is the very place full of talented, unique, and creative individuals who have inspired many and it is my greatest desire to help build that community. I am so grateful for the kindness and trust shown as a whole, I will no less than do my very best to repay what was, and still is given to me.....

Shadowness has started off easy. At the beginning, we were choosing Artists mostly based on their involvment. However we were wrong, and the lack of efforts, the bad acceptance of criticism, lack of maturity and unworthy behaviours were only proofs to this great disapointment. Bad consequences to such efforts everyone made with the only hope to help the artists grow, were discouraging and almost selfish. But it was definitly too much when Racism came as an issue.
Mistakes are unavoidable, but we must learn from them. We are to take actions....

| What the.. Ads on Shadowness?! Your eyes see true, we are placing carefully some ads on Shaodowness. Why? As we speak, our beloved site is suffering from its huge time investment and great expenses. We are trying to cover these expenses by finding the less compromising solutions. Even though we are admittedly as annoyed as you to this sad choice, we want to say that we have our limits in such actions. We will NEVER put popups as well as equally annoying advertisement.......

I sense a lot of tension lately between the Chosen Artists and the people commenting on their art. I thought I would explain my view on this whole process to maybe help each group understand what they need to be doing.

Shadowness is known to have suffered from hundreds of rips through our years of history. It is not new to us when we receive reports that many php templates were using our beloved Shadowness version 2 layout as a theme, and Postnuke is one example.
In this topic we will clarify our intentions on this issue. On a positive note however, we want to announce that Version Two is now viewable....

| Before everyone get too much excited, we would like to notify our artists that this is not a category created so you can upload just any photos. Photography is another serious form of Art that will be as much hard-criticized as the rest of the sections. So before submitting anything to this section, make sure you have excelled in our 3 criterias: Concept, Technique and Creativity.

| We have been planning on having an entire category reserved for photography, so with this topic we would like to call the photographers for their knowledge/input on how we should name the sections. We also want to see more Photographers applying on Shadowness. This way, as soon as the new category will see the day, emptiness will hardly be an uncomfortable matter.

So anyway, I'll be leaving for Atlanta this Friday (6am, I might add) - visiting relatives. Which means, you won't be seeing any 5-paragraph crits on shadowness. But, when Sunday comes along, beware. LOL.

Ok ummm hi guys =], this is my first news post but I feel that it holds a lot of importance for the artists and their works.
First off when posting art, USE the description to describe your work. I can not stress this enough!! You need to describe the piece as you see it, and add anything that would allow us, as the viewer, to understand the "how" and the "why" your designed this piece so that we can give you a good review based on the image itself, and your view of it as well....

Meng is working very hard on the coding and we are grateful for his work. It is a privelage to see this great structure being built from the bottom up. Let us learn to be patient and supportive during this important time.
The exhibitions are the outer layer of Shadowness, and represent the best of our collective talents. This is where we want to share our inspiration and deep thoughts about art. It is a selected set of work that we hope to be proud of.....

It's come to our attention that we are evil. There is a general idea that the critiques on shadowness are too critical.
The Shadowness community is based on progressive learning and quality work. The crits being given by Pucca and I(chris) are seen as negative and harsh. Out of the several positive one-liners, and sugar-coated ratings, where is the honesty if we do not comment the way we do. Shadowness will only grow when the artists learn to accept critical views and allow those words to invoke changes in their work......

| This website has a solid history behind its back. In fact, it started even before Shadowness has seen light, and every once in a while, it evolves. This next project is not to go unnoticed. Their newest design will greatly appeal, but what will attract most is the ideas behind. There isn't much activity lately as we come to expect from a speedy-growing Community. But that is the whole conspiracy. The new Speedos-System is coming... And we have been working on it since days, bathed in coffeine. Here at Shadowness, we were thinking of launching a United Devices cancer scanning team. Before we do, I would like some replies to this post of how many would either switch teams, or install the software to help.
UD Cancer Research is a small program that takes about 800k (not even 1 meg) of RAM and can either run as a screensaver, or run all the time by sitting in your taskbar.
Specifically, it scans different parts of proteins that it gets in packets from the server, scans it, sends the information back, and starts again. Some of the top universities in North America have switched from the classic and respected Alien Research project; “SETI @ Home”.

| It has come to my attention that since Spring Day 1, we have quite an uncomfortable issue with DeviantArt, regarding how we start, then try to become or compete with this Great Community. It is untrue on the hostility. We have been quite Overambitious in our promises, as the site is more organizations than expected. We are greatly working on the consistency of each new feature so that you won't Experience errors that were Not meant. We are still going to release the rest of the Site in a timely manner, but circumstances such as the constant administration of such a growing Community do not allow us to complete for tonight.

| As an admin at Shadowness, I won't allow abuse of low ratings mostly because your personal preferences are over-influencing your rating. Ratings below 6 is because the Art itself is executed badly in the Category it belongs, and Not because you do not personally Fancy that Type of Art. I ask you to Please be Neutral when it comes to judging a Category you do not especially fancy as that kind of action does Not encourage the Artist to Outdone himself in the future, but further discourage his sensitivity and promote Hatred within the Community. The option I am giving is to Not rate at all, or give friendly suggestions, show Examples or Directions that you believe would help the Artist to Oustand himself.

| Due to the fact that we have been accepting many artists, and are greatly expanding, and that their submissions may disturb the quality viewing we are planning to have on Shadowness, we are forced to implement ONE RULE : If your latest piece rating is BELOW 6, you will be given a Warning. If your next piece is as unfortunate, we will REMOVE your submission rights.

| Quick Updates: Main page Exhibitions Rollover stats show accurate info on the Art. Favorites and Vote stats now show faithfully for every commentor. The submit page has also been updated, fixing the bugs that we've experienced happened previously.

| I have received many e-mails and comments on my messaging system, and as well through our IRC channel. I have addressed all these issues in our first newsletter, but I will post a snippet of that information here because our newsletter still has some graphics issues that must be addressed.

| We got to admit, the week-end was slow on the updates, but rest assured, we are constantly working to improve Shadowness V3. *The exhibitions STATS, most of them were unfaithful, however has been fixed and will work great. *The top fav exhibitions now works and will update everyday. I have also been requested to allow usage of username to 3 characthers.. Granted!

| Finally, after a much anticipated date, Shadowness is approaching the final stages for Version 3. We were delayed because our main idea of releasing in Phases, has pretty much gone awry. We now have a new template, new user interface, and higher quality presentations. Thus, v3 will be everything we have proclaimed it to be, and more!
